The North Kitsap Relay For Life is July 26 at 6 p.m. until noon on the 27th. The event is at the North Kitsap High School Stadium. Teams will camp on the field. This year’s theme is “Around the World: Passports to a Cure.”
A luminaria ceremony at 10 p.m. will honor and remember those in our community who have battled cancer and those who have passed on. The luminaria stay lit all night and teams keep a member on the track at all times.
For me, this is a family event. I had cancer three years ago. I was treated right here in Kitsap and am now in the best health of my life.
Cancer touches everyone in some way. In North Kitsap, we have some children with cancer right now. A team called Kitsap Strong was organized in their honor. If we can get 40,000 people out to Viking Fest, surely we can have a great turnout for something this important. Cancer research made my treatment early and doable. Let’s change hope into a cure.
