I noticed in your Sept. 10 article (“Sheriff’s Office faces deep cuts in budget”) that the number of officers per 1,000 residents it cited did not calculate what that number would be if the population of incorporated cities was removed from the county population number.
All the cities provide their own police.
Sheriff Steve Boyer cries the blues about a reduction in force, however the city of Port Orchard just gained many miles of the county and 3,500 or so residents that the county does not have to police anymore.
The city now has to hire more officers.
I feel these items should be mentioned.
