When the South Kitsap School District put out its information as to the necessity of a new levy, one of the “necessary” items was the

replacement of the roof on Orchard Heights Elementary School.

We were led to believe that this was a disaster just waiting to happen. Now it appears that it wasn’t really as necessary as it was before the levy was run considering that it has been put on the back burner in favor of keeping teachers on board.

Where is the “safety” of the children now that the levy has passed? It was stated by the citizens review committee that the replacement of the Orchard Heights roof was a big-ticket item that the School District could not do without.

Is it any wonder there are many like me who see through all the doom-and-gloom presented to the voters as “the sky will fall” if we don’t pass a levy or a certain tax issue.

Issues, such as this, just solidify my anti-additonal-tax attitude.
