I attended the League of Women Voters forum Tuesday for candidates for North Kitsap School Board position 3. I found the event informative and helpful. I encourage others to seek out the information and views presented there.

During the forum, Doug Prichard presented himself as a respectful, detailed and forward- thinking candidate for school board director. He articulated a vision of a proactive school district that makes decisions with appropriate family, teacher and community input after careful and transparent research, understanding, deliberation and communication. He clearly understands the interaction of enrollment, funding, and community support.

In particular, Mr. Prichard exhibited his knowledge and understanding of many key issues facing our school district. He has clearly done his homework, putting much thought and consideration into these concerns, and the myriad implications. I expect that he will bring this same ethic of diligence as a school board director.

Mr. Prichard will represent the community to solidify decision-making and communication that is so critical to foster the partnership of trust required to maintain the quality schools that the North Kitsap community wants, needs, and deserves.
