In recent candidate profiles and debates, we’ve heard the terms balance, single-minded, and debate.
Some feel members of the Board of Commissioners unanimously agree on everything. I suppose it’s easy to get that impression if you’ve never attended any of the work-study sessions of the board. Unanimity is not a given.
The true test is what you do when debate arises. In listening to Mr. Wolfe, I’m left with the impression of a desire to be contrary for the sake of “debate” versus bringing substance to the discussion. I value differences of opinion when someone can share the data and life experience from which their opinion arises.
As a Kitsap County commissioner and voter, I’m supporting Linda Streissguth for election because Linda has the ability and communication style to listen to all perspectives, which helps make “balanced” decisions. When debate arises, Linda strives for consensus not conflict.
Linda Streissguth has the relevant background and experience to address the issues coming before the board each and every day. Linda has management experience that brings new perspectives to board discussions and decision-making. When appointed, Linda was able to hit the ground running and shared substantial, constructive insights from the start.
At this important time in comprehensive planning for our county’s future, Linda, as a certified planner, has the skills and vision to help our citizens map out the path forward over the next 20 years.
Please join me in voting for Linda Streissguth.
