Suquamish Tribal Council supports Boys & Girls Club

We’re writing to offer thanks to the Suquamish Tribal Council for supporting the North Kitsap Boys & Girls Club after school at the Kingston Middle School during the past three years. The Tribal Council has regularly awarded Appendix X funds for our program, which expanded from 15 to 60 middle school kids in the last school year. As the advisory board for the club, it’s our job to find sources of money so that the club’s two wonderful program directors can be paid, and activities supplies and snacks are funded.

Some readers may remember that we launched this club after two Kingston teenagers committed suicide in 2002. The Suquamish grants have been the most regular source of operating funds, enabling us to serve a greater number of kids safely and effectively.

To thank the Tribal Council, the kids created a giant card that included their artwork and photos of their activities. We add our thanks to those of the kids, and remain grateful that the Tribal Council sees fit to help these kids have a safe place to go after school, where they can do homework, play games, read, and take field trips.
