When prohibition was lifted some destructive practices came with it. Absenteeism increased in the work force, fatalities on our highways, health care costs increased because of the health consequences and of course our youth saw alcohol consumption rise also.
Sherry Appleton’s promotion of legalizing pot has some good points. It will decrease a burdened legal system to make way for more serious crimes. But there is a difference between making it an offense where a ticket could be given than legalizing and taxing it.
Taxing pot to pay for public education is an oxymoron. It hurts the development of people growing , it hurts the way they learn to relate to each other, it limits their potential. To justify one action with another that already has shown will increase usage with our youth is wrong.
