Poulsbo’s Fish Park succeeds in numerous ways, but especially from the interest and enthusiasm of its volunteers.
Even though the park is owned and supported by the City of Poulsbo, managed by Director Mary McCluskey, Parks and Recreation, it is still heavily dependent upon volunteers for its success. There have been many churches, service clubs, organizations and individuals that have donated their time, talents and equipment toward making the park what it is today. They are all greatly appreciated.
Consequently, a big “Thank you” should go out to the recent volunteers who just installed an impressive new water feature by the first bridge, just north of the parking lot. A special thanks to Dan Blossom, Dan Blossom Landscape and Design, for his skill and creativity building and designing the water feature. Thanks to Shane Skelly, owner of Skelly Works, for his continued support and donations of heavy equipment and for providing his talented equipment operator Ben Salazar. Larry Todd from Hard Rock Cement once again donated products and equipment to Fish Park. Veteran Fish Park volunteer Erik Nordlie and first-but-not-last-time volunteer Ely Carter worked assisting Dan by wheelbarrowing material to the site.
Additional thanks to Poulsbo Public Works, Dan Wilson, Joe Walker, Rich Sardarov, and Rob Perkins for their support. Finally, without the contacts and resources from Brad Watts of Valley Nursery, none of this would have come to fruition.
Best of all, for current and future residents of Poulsbo, the surrounding community and visitors, you all get to reap the rewards, as Poulsbo’s Fish Park continues to mature.
Enjoy!
