As the Board of Directors of Kitsap Foster Care Association (KFCA), we’d like to thank all the people and community agencies who came together last weekend to make the “ghost train” event a huge success. We are overwhelmed by the support that our community gives this event every year. In spite of the long lines, people come from all over our area to enjoy the haunted train rides, and to help to make a difference in the lives of local foster kids. This event allows KFCA to continue providing holiday gifts, backpacks filled with school supplies, Mariners tickets and monthly support group meetings for foster parents and kids.
This year, we provided a unique Halloween experience to over 1,500 riders. We thank all for your patience and smiles as you waited in line to enjoy your ride. The donations that come from this help to make children in our community feel loved and supported, even under very trying circumstances.
This event could not happen without the support of many sponsors and vendors who put long hours and personal resources into its success. At the top of the list is the Kitsap Live Steamers group, a wonderful group of train enthusiasts who volunteer their services each year to benefit KFCA. They worked a very long day for us, on top of their regular run day. They were even kind enough to work past our event ending time to honor all tickets sold. We are immeasurably grateful for their support and kindness!
All of our wonderful community partners and food vendors also helped to make the event fun for all attendees. Neighborly Greetings, Community and Family Service Foundation, Silverdale Kiwanis, Ekklesia Church, Les Schwab Tire Centers, That One Place, Point Hope, Burwell Landing Car Wash, Kitsap Credit Union, Imagination Station, Tracyton United Methodist Church, Cub Scouts, South Kitsap Fire and Rescue, Kitsap County Sheriff Cadets, Phyllis Bishop, Mad Moose Pizza, Piccadilly Bakery and Taco Time all combined to give our guests a memorable experience with lots of delicious treats and games.
Other groups included Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, volleyball teams, Kingston Key Club and others dedicated friends who came together for the sake of helping local foster kids.
Finally, we’d like to thank all the volunteers of KFCA who work tirelessly to organize the event, setup, manage, and teardown. This event would not happen without your hard work and dedication!
