The Kitsap Regional Library system is again set on spending first, and taxing us later.
They again want to build new libraries in Silverdale and Kingston., and that is a problem because they have been boasting in at least six media articles to date that they have new libraries in existence at both locations already and want to expand them for huge amounts of money.
Port Orchard Mayor Lary Coppala, has been dealing with the taxpayers who fund his library at the present time — with a favorable outlook, it would appear.
However, with all the money charges attached to KRL’s plan, Coppola should distance his present system from this group, in my opinion.
The county has been publicly stating they are in financial crisis since back before the start of the $47 million dollar Bethel Corridor Project that was started absent funding.
The county says the park system is in the red, yet they still continue to establish yet more unfounded parks.
The county cut hours, cut personnel, stopped funding some programs, cut back on funding for some programs, yet continues to spend more money, and then expects the voters to give yet more huge sums of money for the library system.
KRL and the county want money for buildings, to buy land, to buy parking, etc., to name a few things.
Kitsap County officials, like the Washington lawmakers, continue to “spend and then tax” to fund their pipe dreams.
It would also appear before any more spending in the red occurs, many of our elected officials, county and state, should seek the professional help of their local proctologist to get into the correct funding mindset before proceeding farther into financial matters.
Both of these entities need to get the citizens back to work before they raise the amount of funds that they are already plundering from the working class to support their spend-and-tax method of doing business.
It has to stop somewhere, voters, and the upcoming elections and issues on the ballot is the time say goodbye to elected officials and no to ballot measures that have funds attached to them.
