Use some balance in cartoon selection

I’m looking at your Nov. 20 cartoon showing the caricature of a biblical scene of Middle Eastern refugees being refused carte blanche entry to some States.

I figure any cartoonist can be forgiven for attempting to gain recognition by being amusing, outrageous, or simply demonstrating their sketching and artistic talent.

The brave cartoonists and journalists on the national and international media stage regularly uphold their beliefs for freedom of speech and of the press.

However, the editorial team of any publication ought to think beyond their obvious desire for circulation volumes, especially when feeding a relatively small and local circulation.

Not all Americans are politically savvy and certainly there are plenty of Americans who are sharing a human trait to be caring and generous. However, many Americans and Europeans are questioning the volume of warrior-age men that appear to make up the overwhelming majority of the ranks of the migrating hoards. It is a migration of great proportion and only the unwise would not be questioning the many potential implications.

Fortunately, the cartoon message and the general views of our horribly misguided president are being tempered by a groundswell from Americans of all political persuasions, because they are seeing the risks already manifesting themselves around the world.

I do not want you to be censored, just use a bit of balanced common sense with your positioning and editorial choices with the North Kitsap Herald.

There, now that was painless, wasn’t it?
