The position of county assessor requires expertise in real estate, business acumen, customer service and communication skills. Given this criterion, Sean Smith best embodies the core competencies required.
As a previous instructor for the graduate of the Realtor Institute, I am well versed on the materials and information one must master to succeed. Smith has a real estate background spanning over 18 years as a licensed broker and is direct endorsement certified by Housing and Urban Development which allows the holder to underwrite and approve loans that are insured by the government Federal Housing Administration. This includes the review and approval of all property appraisals. Actual application of these skills coupled with his ability to lead and manage a mortgage bank through the Great Recession make Smith eminently qualified.
His low key and business-like approach to the job would be an asset to Kitsap County. Voting for character, competency and experience trumps voting a straight party line. I encourage a vote for Smith, county assessor.
