The Tea Party is wrong that all Americans are taxed enough already. The rich should pay a higher rate because their hiring practices are a primary cause of our high unemployment.
Taxing the rich will decrease both the deficit and unemployment by increasing the number of consumers to support small businesses, the major engine of our economy. Higher taxes on the rich will decrease unemployment by adding more government workers. Unlike corporate fleet owners, most firemen, teachers, and policemen get their cars repaired at a body shop owned by an independent small businessman. This increased consumer demand will enable that business to expand and add more employees.
Corporations seek to either take over, or eliminate, small businesses that they see as their competitors. This too often results in higher American unemployment and depressed wages for American workers. Large American-owned international corporations are more likely to outsource jobs to cheap foreign labor.
Small American businesses hire more American workers. America’s small businesses are the primary job creators for American workers and the heart of our economic partnership with government.
Tax policies that favor the rich and large corporations, not bloated government, are the biggest threats to our economic recovery with low unemployment. America needs tax policies that favor consumers and small businesses. Remember this when you vote!
