Below is a message I sent to Rep. Derek Kilmer, D-Bremerton, about the controversial fish consumption rate.
I think we need to pause for a second to put things in perspective. For the last 50 years, there have been warnings about what is going to happen to the planet, to people, animals, water, flora, etc., if we don’t curtail pollution. There have been many efforts by good people to change direction. We didn’t. We are here in that dreaded future.
Now, the discussion is not about cleaning up, but limiting the amount of pollution to limit the number of deaths due to pollution. Do any of our illustrious leaders really understand what this means? Our government is setting death sentences, and feeling as though they have accomplished something because the number of deaths have been limited.
There will be ugly hard deaths, like cancer, respiratory diseases, hunger, etc. And who will die? Those who are poor. And that number is growing by leaps and bounds daily. That is insanity. We have become insane. I do not say this lightly.
With all our resources, we can fix this. We are past the point of compromise. We need leadership that will draw a line in the sand and not move it. We need a strong voice who will not back down, who will not compromise. If this isn’t done at the leadership level, then eventually it will be done by the people.
It’s already starting for other reasons. Look at what is occurring because of the police state. Look at Ferguson. It will be far worse when the food and water supply becomes more poisonous.
