letter (“One again, WEA telling its lies”), I offer some additional facts.
Mr. Daugherty makes reference to “larger class sizes and teacher layoffs” as being false.
That’s a very true fact and statement because “class size” has nothing to do with the failing system that we now have.
The union agreements have major bearing on “class size” because teachers are paid additional salary for every student over 15 students they have in their classroom.
“Class size” is about money, not education.
The next point is “teacher layoffs,” and the South Kitsap School District just recently boasted that it had to lay off teachers because of funds.
But in the very next statement, district officials conceded they hired twice as many as they let go.
Does the WEA spread lies? Yes they do.
To justify this statement, I will tell everyone this: By document, the WEA is not a union and it is not recognized as a union by the Washington State Attorney General’s office.
In addition, the WEA was fined $1 million-plus for illegal use of membership dues money for political campaign contributions.
Lastly, the lawmakers changed the law to allow the WEA to continue this illegal practice as a now legal practice.
The WEA has bought and paid for just about every elected official in this state.

Mr. Daugherty refers to the state Constitution and what it states about funding education being paramount. That is exactly what is taking place, Mr. Daugherty.
However, it’s funding (by taxpayers) of $80,000 salaries (for six-months work) for the teachers in SKSD not education of students.
The taxpayers should not be funding anything to do with schools. Might I remind everyone that the Washington State Lottery was established in this state to fund education and road repairs.
Personally, Mr. Daugherty, I cannot justify in any way shape or form voting with a yes on anything relating to funding for SKSD or state education until the system suffers a massive overhaul of its failing system.
