I read with interest the musings of Jacque Thornton regarding the question of whether capitalism works for anyone but “billionaires” (“Who is looking out for the little guy anyway?,” page 25, May edition).

Ms. Thornton, capitalism works very well when it is permitted to do so and is practiced by those with a true moral compass.

Capitalism is the system by which America became and remains the most prosperous nation in the history of mankind. The standard of living of America’s poorest far surpasses that of nearly all the other systems of government and finance.

You made your living in a capitalist society. So did I. Go ahead, you can be proud, just a little bit.
