Native American country gospel artist Johnny Curtis will perform for one night only, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the S’Klallam Worship Center, 32274 Little Boston Road, Little Boston.

The concert is free, however, donations will be accepted.

Curtis hails from Arizona and is a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

Curtis has performed his unique brand of Native American country gospel since 1970. His first album, “Apache Country Gospel,” was released in 1975. He has since released eight albums, including one live album.

He has often been likened to the stylings of Johnny Cash — his own record label is titled “House of Curtis”— but Curtis’ music has bridged many musical divides throughout his career. He has recorded across genres such as country, rockabilly, pop, rock and acoustic, all working within the gospel theme.

Curtis was honored with the 2008 Native American Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been nominated for two Native American Music Awards, or NAMMYs.
