Bookstores across the county will be keeping their doors open past midnight Sept. 19, celebrating the release of the third book in author Christopher Paolini’s mythical trilogy — Inheritance Cycle.

First there was the New York Times bestseller “Eragon” which debuted the unassuming farm boy, his dragon Saphira and the mythical world of Alagaesia.

Then came the sequel, “Eldest,” furthering Eragon’s training as a Dragon Rider. And now, “Brisingr” — within which the author revealed in a web spoiler “it’s safe to say that Eragon encounters a rather new and terrifying enemy.

“It’s an enemy that likes to laugh,” Paolini says, “and not in a good way.”

“Brisingr” bashes — featuring showings of the movie “Eragon,” renaissance costumes, Alagaesia trivia and dragon faire leading up to the release — are slated throughout the county.
