Staff report
The Lynwood Theatre will have a 15-hour celebration and annual renovation fundraiser June 21 for its 87th anniversary.
It’s on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, and will feature non-stop entertainment from 9 a.m. to midnight. There will be free movies, music, magic, food, an auction, raffles, a film festival, merchandise and filming of all events for a documentary.
Donations will go to upgrading the historic venue including curtains, seats, sound system and structural improvements. The goal is $87,000, which is less than $4 a person for everyone on the island, a news release says.
Eugenie Jones will headline the event, but there will be animated morning features, screening of five-minute film festival award winners, five local bands, food samples from local restaurants, celebrity presentations, t-shirts and more.
The theater is owned and operated by Far Away Entertainment of Bainbridge Island.
