The Sustainable Cinema Series will screen “The Pacific Rim: Americas,” a beautifully shot film about the geology of the West Coast. It will be shown Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 pm, at the Dragon Fly Cinema in Port Orchard, 822 Bay Street.

This film reveals that the ground beneath our feet is never truly still. The earth’s surface masks the constant shift of the rock below. Movements, deep underground, form volcanoes and cause earthquakes. The Pacific Rim is home to 75 percent of the world’s volcanoes and 90 percent of its earthquakes. The active geology of the West Coast contributes to its fascinating landscape and poses challenges to its cities.

Jim Bolger will lead discussion on the geology of the West Coast. Bolger is a Planning Manager at Puget Sound Partnership. He has long been involved with environment and resource management in the region. Click here for a small poster about this event.
