Keep your eye on the puck during this weekend’s packed game play at the Bremerton Ice Center, as it hosts 12 teams in a 25-game Battle for the Sound tournament. The Kitsap County Outlaws will face teams from around the state, region and Canada. The first puck drops at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 12. Championship game begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. Liberty Bay Books will bring “One Shoe Blues” — a collaboration between bestselling children’s author Sandra Boynton, King of the Blues B.B. King and a supporting cast of sock puppets — to life at a special sock-puppet event just for kids. Liberty Bay Books will supply the socks and decorating materials for kids to make sock puppets. The “One Shoe Blues” DVD will be playing in the store for inspiration. There will also be other storybook-based activities and refreshments. The event begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. See IslandWood’s All Roads On the Road Film Festival Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13 and 14. The selected films were screened at the National Geographic All Roads Film Showcase in Washington, D.C. Filmmakers from New Zealand, Israel, Peru, Mexico, Paraguay, Bolivia, Canada, and the United States are represented. All Roads is a National Geographic initiative created to provide an international platform for indigenous and underrepresented minority-culture artists to share their cultures, stories, and perspectives through the power of film and photography.
