The national book launch for Bainbridge author Kristin Hannah’s newest novel, “Winter Garden,” will kick off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Poulsbo’s That’s A Some Italian. Hannah is the bestselling author of nearly a dozen novels. Her book “Firefly Lane” appeared on the New York Times bestseller list for nearly nine months this past year. In her new book, which alternates between the past and present, sisters Meredith and Nina hear the singular, harrowing story of their mother’s life, and what they learn is a secret so terrible it will shake the very foundation of their family and change who they believe they are. “Iraq in Pictures,” a collection from Phil Kiver taken mostly by soldiers in midst of the conflict, will show at Eagle Harbor Book Company at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31. The event is free and will wrap with a Q&A session and book signing. The photos in “Iraq in Pictures” illuminate the many realities of the current war. Kiver, an Iraqi war veteran and Army journalist, created the collection for historical purposes and in the hope of helping civilians have a more visceral response to this war in a strange land. Mark Lewis will take the mic at MoonDogs, Too alongside guitarist Milo Peterson from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31. Peterson was recently honored by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.
