Seems like every September, I say this is really the start of my year, as opposed to everyone else who starts in January, but it’s true. After a summer of travel and fun, my Thursday Ladies Bridge Club starts up again on Sept. 13, my Memoir Writing Workshop starts again Sept. 17, I’ve gone back to the exercise class at Kingston Fitness, and, voila, almost every day has an activity.
The Hansville Community Center, unlike me, didn’t take the summer off. As you probably already know, the annual Rummage Sale in August was a big success, the Coaster Games are continuing, Bingo was enjoyed and will be back, and the Neighbors Luncheons are still the place to meet your neighbors and those new people who have moved into our area.
Don’t forget to take a walk along Buck Lake among the native plants, and did you remember that the Rummage Sale needs volunteers?
Because I care that my readers are happy and busy too, here are some suggestions of what you can take on for your (maybe new) activities:
You could join the Friends of Norwegian Point, or the group that takes care of the native plant area.
The Little Boston Library is full of fun. It offers story time and crafts for kids, Mahjongg for adults, movies for all, and all those books to read! At the Driftwood Key Club House, you could attend a NKPS Anglers Club meeting, join the Need to Knit Group and the Local Artists Workshop, play on the swing set. Or you could join the Ladies Aid at one of their meetings.
And don’t forget to check out the potlucks at Eglon. Although the weekly summer Beach Nights are over for the summer, we can dream about next year.Maybe it’s time to take off those pounds that have crept onto those hips. You could attend the TOPS weight loss group at Hansville Church, or maybe start a walking group.
Lastly, don’t forget to take some time just for you. If it includes sleeping or reading or writing or just dreaming, do it. You are important. There is so much to do, but do you see a new activity coming up this year? I do and I expect to have a happy busy winter.
Hope you do too.
