The next magnanimous super hero crime-fighter movie from the Marvel Comics Universe is set to hit big screens worldwide at midnight May 2.
Bainbridge Cinemas, however, has gotten permission from Paramount Pictures to debut “Iron Man” for its audiences at 8 p.m. May 1 at 403 Madison Ave. on Bainbridge. Advance tickets are already available through the theater box office, and they are expecting a sell-out.
The film — starring Robert Downey Jr. as the Iron Man from the comic series “The Avengers,” directed Jon Favreau (“Elf,” “Zathura”) — is about a billionaire industrialist, a weapons designer named Tony Stark who is kidnapped by terrorists in Afghanistan and ordered to build a missile for them. But instead Stark uses the resources to build an incredible suit of armor and makes his escape.
Returning to America, he improves the power suit with weaponry and flying capabilities, becoming the technologically advanced crime-fighting super hero Iron Man.
Throughout, he battles his supervillain nemesis The Iron Monger.
