Kingston Garden Club will meet on March 18, with President Noel Leary updating the club on spring projects, activities and garden tours. The club has nearly 50 members, both male and female, and encourages those interested in gardening to attend a meeting.

The March meeting will feature Jim Trainer, a nationally known community forester recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation as the only U.S. forester to win both Tree Line USA and Tree City USA Awards. He is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, Washington State University Master Gardener and founding member of KiTSA, a non-profit tree organization.

Trainer’s topic will be “Trees and Treetures.” Come learn about the trees and treetures of our forests, their identification, sounds, and their habitat. Trainer does volunteer environmental work for KiTSA (Kitsap Trees and Shoreline Association) and Illahee Preserve and many other projects.

The Kingston Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, March 18 at Redeemer United Methodist Church located on the corner of Parcell and Shorty Campbell Roads. There is a social time at 9 a.m. with Trainer’s presentation following at 9:30. To learn more about the Kingston Garden club, check the Web site at www.kingstongardenclub.com. New members are always welcome. For directions or more information, call Nancy Martin at (360) 297-6640.
