Hell’s Belles are back in town, this time with Zero Down, while the Bean gets Celtic and Bainbridge raises the ghosts of Hank and Patsy.
THURSDAY
THE CULCHIES, traditional Irish trio of fiddle, guitar & bouzouki and bodhrán & bones from 7-11 p.m. June 26 at The Global Bean Coffeeshop, 2021 NW Myhre, Ste. 101 in Silverdale. All ages, a cup of coffee for the cover.
Kicking off an estranged — but exquisitely old school — docket of rock in Kitsap’s music scene this weekend, the Culchies will be making their way to Silverdale’s Global Bean, all the way from Wisconsin, to play some traditional Irish drinking music.
Coffee drinking music, that is.
The Global Bean has built a global atmosphere, bigger than your average coffee shop, through its musical performers and worldly fare. And this is just another example.
Every other Wednesday the coffee shop hosts an impromptu kind of Celtic jam session. But The Culchies are the real deal.
Or at least they better be. The word “culchie,” after all, is used to describe someone who hails from rural Ireland.
Did I mention these guys are from Milwaukee?
FRIDAY

Indeed, the girls are back in town.
If you didn’t make it out to the King Cobra in Seattle last night to see these ladies with their respective original bands — Adrian and the Sickness, The Moens and Witchburn — then you definitely missed out.
But, there’s no use crying over a missed show.
Tonight, the wicked vixens of Hell’s Belles will be likely cramming Bremerton’s Winterland with a room full of empowered chicks, drooling dudes and a fist-pumping soundtrack of AC/DC. Yes, indeed, all night long.
If you’ve never seen Hell’s Belles and you missed the King Cobra show last night, then you definitely owe it to yourself to pay the $12 ticket at Winterland.
In the coveted opening spot for the Bells will be classic metal Seattle band Zero Down, who, last week, played the KISS 99.9/El Corazon-sponsored after party for another classic rock legend, almost as big as Hell’s Belles — some guy named Bret Michaels.
So don’t be late. And don’t forget your devil horns.

SATURDAY
FOUTH ANNUAL HANK WILLIAMS AND PATSY CLINE TRIBUTE featuring 13 bands from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., June 28 in the Barn at Hazel Creek Farm, 8903 Koura Road on Bainbridge Island. All Ages, $10 cover, $5 for kids under 15 and seniors 60+.
Every year local bluegrass, Americana and acoustic players get together in a barn on Bainbridge Island for a day-long celebration of two of the most influential bedrock figures in American music.
It’s a real throw-back ode to Country Western.
Five continuous hours of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline tributes out in the “country” on Bainbridge.
It began four years ago with Kingston local enthusiast/stringer/open mic host Rick Barrenger who wanted to pay homage to the musicians he grew up listening to — one of whom he shares a birthday with, Sept. 17 (go ahead, look it up).
The festival keeps a dying breed alive through local solo artists, duos and trios.
And at the end of the night, as the final band takes the stage, they clear all the chairs off of the barn-room dance floor and start getting down like its 1950.
The final band: a local swing group called Get the Oxygen Tank.
