Silver City to host Oktoberfest Sept. 17-20, benefits local firefighters.

Whether you want to see it or not, the Silver City brewmaster will be all decked out to tap the official Oktoberfest keg.

“Our brewer dresses up in his lederhosen,” said Silver City Restaurant & Brewery General Manager Josh Klein. “It’s quite a sight.”

Silver City will host its 13th annual Oktoberfest celebration Thursday, Sept. 17 through Sunday, Sept. 20, with the official keg-tapping at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Oktoberfest also serves as a fundraiser for the Kitsap County Professional Fire Fighters Local 2819 Benevolent Fund.

“They’ve been generous enough to donate the profits of the weekend to our benevolent fund,” said John Tollefson, with Local 2819. “They’ve always helped us out and we try to support local business.”

Klein said Silver City has supported local firefighters for as long as he can remember and the restaurant’s owners are happy to help.

“I think we just wanted to find a way to show we care about them,” Klein said.

Brewmaster Don Spencer brews a traditional German Lager to commemorate the coming of fall and serves it up at Oktoberfest.

Silver City also will serve traditional German food next weekend including Scharzwald Schnitzel and Uli’s Famous Bratwurst & Sauerkraut.

“It’s a fun event for the whole family to come enjoy good food,” Tollefson said.

Firefighters will sell 360 commemorative glasses throughout Oktoberfest weekend, with proceeds going to the benevolent fund.

“Each year we sell out, which is amazing,” Tollefson said.

Glasses are $10 a piece and firefighters also will accept monetary donations to the benevolent fund.

“It’s just great that the community in general comes out to the event and a bonus for them is they get to drink the great beer,” Klein said.
