The Trillium School’s Indianola Garden Tour takes place July 26.
The third annual Indianola Garden Tour, sponsored by the Trillium School, will welcome garden lovers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 26 to experience Indianola’s hidden garden gems. The tour features private gardens in Indianola.
Tickets are $15 for adults; children under 12 are free. Tickets, including maps, will be available at local nurseries and at the Indianola Country Store and can be purchased in advance or on the day of the tour. Indianola resident and renowned horticulturist Dan Hinkley will kick off the Indianola Garden Tour with a slide show and lecture, “The Best Foliage for Northwest Gardens,” at 10 a.m. Syndicated columnist and local gardening author Ann Lovejoy will lecture on “Sustainable Gardening” at 11 a.m. and “A Cook’s Garden” at 1 p.m. Tickets for each lecture are $5 and can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to lecture time. Seating is limited.
This year’s featured gardens are unique expressions of their owner’s interests, and include cottage style, mixed boarders, orchards and food spaces, jam-packed small gardens, sweeping woodlands and naturalist streamside wonderlands. The self-guided tour will offer guests the opportunity to stroll and explore at their own pace.
The Trillium School campus, located at 20830 Indianola Road, will host lectures, plant sales by Dragonfly Farms and Robin Dunn, organic gardening and delicious food and beverages available from J’aime Les Crepes.
The tour is a fundraiser for The Trillium School, which welcomes students ages 5 to 19 to participate in an integral education program. The school provides a mixed-aged learning community where self-directed learning is supported by a dedicated staff in a participatory democracy. Applications for enrollment are currently being accepted.
