In the heart of Manchester, WA, a tradition has been kept alive for decades that has become a mainstay of Father’s Day celebrations.
The Salmon Bake will take place at the Manchester Library, 8067 E. Main St. June 18 beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The Manchester Salmon Bake and Book Sale, organized by the Friends of the Manchester Library, is back to pay homage to the history of the community. The annual Salmon Bake has been a fixture for as long as most can remember – paying for the library construction in 1976.
The Salmon Bake doubles as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Manchester Library, a group of volunteers committed to supporting the community resource. Funds raised from this event will pay for the utilities, building maintenance and insurance, and providing diverse programming for all ages – supporting the librarians who complete the partnership.
“Every year, we see welcome first-timers and regulars who have been enjoying this tradition for decades,” said Ray Pardo, a Friends of Manchester Library director and longtime organizer of the event.
He added they are in need of volunteers for various shifts.
