A free military retiree seminar will be held on Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor in the Cinema Plus Theater Friday, Sept. 18. The event will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. to allow attendees time to speak with exhibitors.
Military retirees and their spouses from all branches of the Armed Forces are invited to attend the annual seminar, which will cover information about earned entitlements, eligibility and legislative changes to programs and services that affect them. Surviving spouses also are encouraged to attend to learn about benefits and resources available to them.
Rear Adm. James Symonds, commander of Navy Region Northwest; Capt. Mark Olson, commanding officer of Naval Base Kitsap; retired Coast Guard Capt. Bud Schneeweis, from the Military Officers’ Association of America; Capt. Mark Brouker, commanding officer of Naval Hospital Bremerton; and Dennis Disbrow from the Defense Finance Accounting Service are all scheduled to speak at the seminar.
The Defense Finance Accounting Service will has computer access to assist with pay issues.
TriWest; Retiree Dental; Naval Hospital Bremerton Health Promotions; Naval Base Kitsap Morale, Welfare and Recreation; American Red Cross; Fleet and Family Support Center; VFW Honor Guard; Veterans Community Service Organizations; Military Officers Association of America; and Navy Mutual Aid Association will have information booths at the event.
