It is hard to believe that two months have already gone by in 2012. All of us in Port Gamble are excited for spring to get here and to see the sun. We appreciate all the support that everyone in Kitsap County and beyond gives to the Port Gamble businesses and Olympic Property Group in “buying local.”
We are so proud to announce that Port Gamble’s own Quilted Strait received national recognition in Better Homes and Garden’s “Quilt Sampler” magazine. Quilted Strait was one of 11 shops chosen (out of nearly 3,000 quilts shops in the U.S. and Canada). The issue will be available on newsstands May 8.
We have some exciting new March events happening:
– Quilt Classes Galore offered by the Quilted Strait, for the month of March, include: “What If ..?”, “Brindle Basket Place Mats,” “Practical Beginning Patchwork,” “Bargello Quilt Class,” “Cotton Theory Club,” “Quilts of Valor,” “Applique’ Group,” “It’s All About the Fabric,” “Girls Day Out Class” with Roxanne Carter, “The Chong Way to Applique’,” and the Advanced Quilt Sampler Class.
– Port Gamble Weddings is now hosting an Open House Series to showcase its venues as well as its preferred caterers, disc jockeys, florists, photographers, cake bakers and many others. Each open house in the series will be different. Come out and enjoy finger-foods and drinks provided by our favorite caterers — Essence of the Thymes, Snuffin’s, Little City and Gallucci’s. We will also have our DJs spinning great tunes, and our staff will lead tours of our beautiful venues. Both venues have breathtaking views of the Hood Canal waterfront. Join us March 18, 1-4 p.m., at the Hood Canal Vista Pavilion, the newest building built in Port Gamble in more than 100 years.
This is the second in the Open House series. For more information, visit www.portgambleweddings.com or call (360) 297-8074.
– Port Gamble Theater Company presents “The Good Doctor,” a comedy by Neil Simon. Join us March 2-18 — Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. “The Good Doctor” is a comedy set in Russia during the 19th century and written in the style of a Chekhovian comedy. For tickets, visit www.portgambletheater.com.
– We will host our next Ghost Walk on March 24. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring an umbrella, flashlight and any paranormal tools (EVP, EMF) that you may have. We will go, rain or shine! Reservations and prior payment of $15 per adult is required. The walk will begin 7 p.m. at the Port Gamble Historic Museum.
