At the request of Bremerton’s own Mike the Pike — aka Michael Frottage, frontman of the punk rock band Neutralboy — a bevy of alternative music luminaries descended on Winterland in Bremerton Thursday night.
Michael Dean Damron, former frontman of I Can Lick Any SOB In The House, came up from Portland to kick it off with his band of Loyal Bastards, followed by Tumbledown featuring Bremerton legend Mike Herrera (of MxPx) and his band of local alt/country kings (3/4 of the Rocky Point All Stars). Then Jon Snodgrass and Chad Price, late-90s pop-punk poor celebrities from the bands Armchair Martian and ALL, who’ve been rocking beer-flavored, heartfelt alt country out of the ashes of those bands for the past decade, came from Denver for a rare full band show with Drag the River.
As Neutralboy closed out the evening, or morning rather, with their patented in your face, from the gut, all out punk rock, Frottage paid homage to those cats and urged the crowd to as well.
“You need to pay attention Bremerton,” Mike the Pike announced between songs.
If you missed the show, the whole crew — Mike D and the Loyal Bastards, Tumbledown, Drag the River and Neutralboy — will be wrocking the Jules Maes Saloon in Seattle’s Georgetown district tonight, Aug. 8, before heading to Portland, minus Tumbledown, Saturday.
