San Francisco little big band Swing Fever makes its way to Bainbridge.

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND — Swing Fever has been slinging swing-era jazz for more than three decades … and counting.

They’ve toured with some of the greats, like Count Basie and Duke Ellington trumpeter Clark Terry, clarinetist Buddy DeFranco and vibraphonist Terry Gibbs. They’ve played the night clubs and the festivals (including the Monterey Jazz Festival), the weddings and private parties. They’ve played all over California over the past 15 years.

Jazz Now Magazine, the jazz world magazine, notes that Swing Fever keeps the 30s- and 40s-era classic hits alive without becoming a museum piece.

Staying alive themselves, the San Francisco-based, old-style, eight-piece, piano-less swing band furthers the magnanimous list of places they’ve played with an upcoming show at the Bainbridge Island Commons — 7 p.m., Oct. 4, 370 Brien Dr. SE.

Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door, kids tickets $10.
