Whatever you do this weekend, get out to see some local shows.
The diversity of Kitsap’s local music scene is on display leading up to the Irish holiday America has made its own. From subtle adolescent indie rock on Bainbridge Island to alternative-era, long-hair head-banging in Bremerton to straight-up old-school rock-and-roll with a ZZ Top tribute in Manette, it would seem there’s something for rock lovers of all stripes.
ZEITGEIST CONCERT SERIES features The Army Corps of Architects, Deer City and Photosynthesis at 7:30 p.m. March 15 at the Island Music Guild Hall, 10598 Valley Road on Bainbridge. All ages, $5. Info: www.myspace.com/zeitgeistconcertseries.
After having no monthly show in February, the Zeitgeist Concert Series is hoping to return with a fury in March with a focus on one of the underage indie scene’s most favorite things in the world — the keyboard.
The show, featuring island favorites and Zeitgeist veterans The Army Corps of Architects, will also bring a one-man band from Issaquah called Deer City. A name you may be familiar with if you read The Stranger’s underage ramblings.
Deer City is Jeff Stillwell, a talented kid — with a good deal of alone time on his hands it seems — armed with breadth of synthesizers, drum machines and other noisy gadgets.
Also on the bill is the electro-pop outfit Photosynthesis — another one-man-and-a-computer band. This guy hails from the wooded reaches of Anacortes.

Sharing the stage again with Green 13, a band whose motto is “Out with the new, in with the old,” the Rocky Point All Stars and Tres Hombres should feel right at home.
Rocky Point’s a blue-collar band that rocks bars, pubs and taverns across Western Washington for a living with its original mash up of bluegrass, country-western flavored rock-and-roll. Tres Hombres plays the songs of ZZ Top, the original bluegrass, country-western-flavored rock-and-roll band.
Old timers, you’re gonna love this.

Mos Generator will be playing its last show in town before taking off for a spring European tour, local metal band Sower of Dischord will be hosting its CD release party and Kitsap welcomes back Evil Twin — a band with Motley Crüe overtones that last played Bremerton last St. Patrick’s Day —all in the course of about five drunken hours at the Winterland.
