Back-to-back-to-back days of local punk/metal/hardcore across the southern half
of the county fill out this weekend’s docket of wrock
FRIDAY

When we last heard from Neutralboy, word was still on out on whether or not they’d make it back from a self-booked, self-propelled 40-plus-day nationwide tour. Traveling by van all the way to the swamps of Florida on to the tundra of Minnesota back to the coast and the evergreen Northwest, while morphing from a four-piece to a five-piece, even a six-piece and down to a two-piece — they made it.
And here they go again.
The Bremerton band’s become accustomed to kicking off each new year with a new tour.
And with every new tour, there’s a new destination.
For the DIY nationwide trip, the destination was the Fest, a punk rock festival in Gainsville Fla. Each January, the band makes its way to Sin City for punk rock bowling at the Double Down Saloon in Las Vegas.
But before they go, they’ll be kicking out one hell of a tour kick off with Broken Oars, Def Con Burly and the Pathogens at Winterland followed by a Saturday show at the Comet in Seattle and one last hometown show Sunday at the Drift In downtown where they’ll be filming all the out-of-handness for the next Neutralboy video.

SATURDAY
VS THE WORLD w/ Madmartigan and guests at 9 p.m. Jan. 10 at Moondogs, Too, 714 Bay St. in Port Orchard. 21+, no cover. Info: www.moondogstoo.com.
With this rock show on Bay Street, Moondogs, Too once again exemplifies its diversity as the town tavern.
On Christmas Day, they were opening their doors to all ages for a $1 Christmas dinner benefitting the local Foodline. On New Years Eve, they hosted a swanky, swingset WWII-era bash benefitting local veterans.
On Saturday night they’ll be hosting local headbangers.
Vs. the World, a dark and bloody-throated black metalish brood from Bremerton joins muscle car rockers — Madmartigan.
SUNDAY
THE EXTINCT w/ YIA and Come Live the Riot at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Artists For Freedom and Unity Hall, 318 Callow Ave. in Bremerton. All ages, beer and wine w/ ID, $5 cover. Info: www.myspace.com/artfreeunity.
The Extinct live!
OK, so, despite the name, the local hardcore band the Extinct was never actually technically dead. I just couldn’t resisit the irony.
They did, however, go through a bit of a rough spate awhile back with a line-up change and a car wreck involving a deer. But despite it all the Extinct lives.
And in fact, despite the name, they still put on one of the most enlived, energetic, slam-danceable shows around.
And they get together with their local hardcore brethren Y.I.A and Seattle punks CLR it’s bound to be one big sweaty circle pit of a show.
Bremerton band Y.I.A is back to its original line up with Pat Riot on bass and looking forward to an opening spot for Agent Orange at Hell’s Kitchen next month, while Seattle band Come Live the Riot is, well, living the riot it seems.
And speaking of riots, the Extinct headlines the Charleston across the street two days before, making a sort of sonic riot on Callow Street.
