When Karl Moffit saw the need for a venue in Kitsap County where people could take music lessons, hear live concerts, purchase instruments or just grab a great coffee, he knew what to do.
“I opened JK’s Music House about four months ago after The Guitar Café in Silverdale closed its doors,” Moffit says. “I was the music teacher there for four years and that’s where I built my student base.
“With no other venue in Kitsap County offering what they did, I decided to continue – using my own brand and direction.”
Located in Silverdale, JK’s Music House is a place where music lovers and musicians, from beginner to advanced, can join open-mic nights and music circles, or take private lessons from Moffit himself.
“It’s a chill, relaxing place to ask questions, try something different and make new friends,” he says. “I teach students as young as eight or nine, and some that are in their 80s!”
Originally from West Yorkshire, England, Moffit is an accomplished performer with more than 30 years of experience performing internationally, and can be seen playing with his Bucklin Hill Band across the country.
Learn to play – or sing!
Moffit offers personalized lesson plans and one-on-one sessions, teaching students how to learn a variety of instruments across many musical genres.

- Guitar and bass guitar
- Piano
- Banjo
- Voice

- Ukulele
Every Saturday at noon JK’s Music House also features their Music Circle, an opportunity for musicians of all levels to bring their own instrument or demo an instrument from the shop, and join in a community jam session!
On Friday nights, try your hand at open-mic night, and on Saturday nights, take in some live music.
“We also sell a full range of new and used guitars, from entry-level to high-end,” Moffit says. “As well as various accessories like strings and straps, with new items being added regularly.”
JK’s Music House also has a coffee and sandwich bar serving up delicious British food.
“People love our English meat pies with mushy peas, home-made muffins and scones, and we have coffee that’s on a different level!” Moffit says.
JK’s is available for private events, and check their website for upcoming workshops and events, like JK’s Halloween Jam on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
