BREMERTON – Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) reports it will detonate discarded military munitions on the following date(s) at NBK-Jackson Park:

DATE June 6-15, 2016
TIME 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

No weekend operations are scheduled.

Increased levels of activity will be noticed during the day, and early evening hours, and detonations will be conducted at the Elwood Point area. Those closest to Elwood Point may hear what sounds like a vehicle backfiring, and may see a small cloud of dust.

These detonations are required to occur on Elwood Point as directed by the Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 10.
