10 contestants vie for glory in Hansville Coaster Games

Self-made coaster cars rushed down the S-curve on Benchmark Avenue for hours on Saturday as 10 contestants and dozens of spectators watched the 2011 Hansville Coaster Games. The cars were clocked at speeds of 20 mph or more. The fastest speed was about 28 mph.

HANSVILLE — Self-made coaster cars rushed down the S-curve on Benchmark Avenue for hours on Saturday as 10 contestants and dozens of spectators watched the 2011 Hansville Coaster Games.

The cars were clocked at speeds of 20 mph or more. The fastest speed was about 28 mph.

Included in the races were the event sponsors: The Grub Hut in Kingston, Benchmark Automotive in Kingston, Yank-A-Part in Poulsbo, Hansville Cup of Joy, Hansville Barber Styling, RandiKan, and North Kitsap Metal Recycling.

Results

Class 1:  1st place, Thayer Washabaugh (No other racers in this class)

Class 2:  1st place, Alex Poehlman; 2nd, Michael Galloway; 3rd, Louie Ketcham

Class 3:  1st place, Kellan McLaughlin (No other racers in this class)

Class 4:  1st place, Anthony Ulskey; 2nd, Jennifer Larsen; 3rd, Tyler Hagood

Class 5:  1st place, Lou Krukar; 2nd, Sarah Baxter; 3rd, Dennis Kommer
