POULSBO — The 11th Festival of the Arts is just around the corner.

The festival is 5-9 p.m., May 22, at North Kitsap High School. Admission is free.

This is the first year the festival will be held outside Kingston.

The festival highlights artwork by students from every school in the North Kitsap School District, as well as music, theater and dance performances. Community artists and demonstrations will display their work as well.

Representatives from art schools and arts businesses will provide information about a career in the arts.

Each year the festival gives an award for The Advancement of Arts Education in Washington State. This year’s recipient is Derek Kilmer for his support of the arts in education through the Congressional STEAM Caucus in Congress.

Awards will also be presented to students for their art.

The North Kitsap School Board will present an official resolution to the community recognizing May as Arts Education Month.
