On Tuesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed 652 new COVID cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the countywide total to 24,656 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.
Of the new cases, North Kitsap had 77, and Bainbridge Island 23; 217 were in South Kitsap, 189 in Bremerton; and 141 in Central Kitsap. Five of the cases came from “unknown” areas of the county. The health district is reporting an active outbreak of 13 cases at Bainbridge High School.
Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has skyrocketed to 1,044.5. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 74%.
Of the 24,656 cases, 1,123 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 6,569 in Bremerton, 5,539 in Central Kitsap, 3,829 in North Kitsap and 7,567 in South Kitsap. 29 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.
There have been 265 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began. Details on the three most recent deaths have not yet been provided. Of the previous 262 deaths, 100 were ages 80 and older, 64 ages 70-79, 51 ages 60-69, 32 ages 50-59, 11 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.
