On Tuesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total of positive cases to 1,116 since March.

A total of 28 cases are considered “active” by the district, meaning they are “confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases … participating in daily monitoring.” Another 91 were categorized as “active contacts” or individuals determined to be close contacts of a lab-confirmed case and are participating in daily monitoring.

A total of 12 virus-related deaths have been confirmed in Kitsap by the health district since March. The total number of negative tests to date is 33,640. In July, 422 infections were confirmed by the health district -more that month than all others combined since the pandemic began. In August, 311 cases were confirmed.

Of the 1,116 total cases, 38 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 344 in Bremerton, 279 in Central Kitsap, 178 in North Kitsap and 277 in South Kitsap.

The breakdown for confirmed positive cases per 100,000 residents in each age category in the past 30 days is as follows:

0 – 9: 53 (6 percent)

10 – 19: 51 (6 percent)

20 – 29: 145 (19 percent)

30 – 39: 136 (14 percent)

40 – 49: 182 (20 percent)

50 – 59: 108 (14 percent)

60 – 69: 68 (10 percent)

70 – 79: 66 (6 percent)

80 and older: 82 (4 percent)
