A 25-year-old man arrested for assaulting a 15-month-old boy Christmas day was charged Monday with assaulting a child.
Ricky Joe Hogg was charged with second-degree assault of a child. He is being held in the Kitsap County jail on $500,000 bail.
After his arrest, Hogg allegedly told a deputy he was intoxicated and did not remember assaulting the boy.
Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies were called to the residence in the 2000 block of NE Athens Way at about 9:47 p.m. after the assault, according to reports.
Deputies wrote the child had blood in his nose and mouth and another injury on the back of his head. He was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
Another man in the house told deputies the suspect was “a little scared” of getting into trouble with the law, and had told the man “he messed up because the baby pooped on the bed and he smacked the heck out of him,” the report said.
The man was eventually located by deputies and said he had blacked out.
While in the car, the man told a deputy he had two strikes and this assault would likely result in a third. He then asked if the deputy would shoot him.
“You could tell them that I tried to grab your gun,” the deputy wrote.
The man was booked into the Kitsap County jail for investigation of first-degree assault of a child.
License plates gone missing
Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a rash of stolen license plates from the East Bremerton area over the Christmas holiday weekend:
-Dec. 24, theft of a rear license plate in the 7900 block of Lazy S Lane NE.
-Dec. 24, theft of rear license plates from two vehicles in the 7700 block of Lazy S Lane NE.
-Dec. 26, theft of rear license plates from two vehicles in the 6700 block of Tabardis Road NW.
-Dec. 26, theft of rear license plates from three vehicles in the 7800 block of Lazy S Lane NE.
Vandalism marks day after Christmas
A 49-year-old Bremerton woman woke up Saturday to a rude post-Christmas surprise.
The tires were slashed in the Ford Explorer and Mercury Tracer in her driveway at the 7000 block of Bridle Vale Blvd. NW in East Bremerton, according to sheriff’s reports.
Deputies later found similar incidents at three other homes along the block, including two vehicles at one residence. There are no suspects at this time.
Malicious mischief was also reported that evening at 11:39 p.m. at Our Place Tavern in Silverdale, where the windshield was broken on a red-colored Jeep Cherokee parked on the east side of the building.
The vehicle owner reported that the windshield was broken by rocks from an intoxicated man walking from the bar. Both the witness and the owner described the man as 5 feet 5 inches, with a stocky build, a red goatee, a gray beanie and black jacket.
