A deputy was driving northbound on National Avenue approaching F Street in Navy Yard City at 2:45 p.m. Aug. 9 when he spotted a man walking alongside a dog.
The dog walked into the middle of the road, causing vehicles to slow down and wait for it to move. The deputy told the man he needed to control the dog and the 24-year-old said it was his friend’s dog. The deputy told him he still needed to control it and the man complied. The deputy then looked in his rearview mirror and noticed the dog was back in the road. He turned around and confronted the man again.
The deputy asked the man for identification and the man started to walk away. He then gave the deputy his last name and tried to walk away again. The deputy grabbed the man’s arm and when he resisted, the deputy took the man to the ground and put him in handcuffs.
When the deputy asked him why he refused to identify himself, the man said he had a warrant, wasn’t having a good day and didn’t want to talk to anyone.
The man was arrested and booked into jail for an outstanding warrant and obstructing a law enforcement officer. He is serving his sentence.
