Wouldn’t you love to receive a picture of your town with a note from a loved one on the back?
The picture from the past this month was probably taken in the summer of 1913. Another postcard of Kingston taken at about the same time was sent to Sam Leyman on Jan. 30, 1914. Sam Leyman was working that winter for the Mack Logging Company in Redondo, south of Seattle (Leyman Road, just off West Kingston Road, is named for Sam.)
This year’s postcard picture was taken from the deck of the Puyallup on February 7. We tried to duplicate the location of the postcard as well as we could. Look for the Old Kingston Hotel left of center in both pictures.
Plan to join the Kingston Historical Society at our March meeting on March 25 in the Kingston Community Center at 10 a.m. We enjoy sharing stories and pictures of Kingston from any time before 1990.
