POULSBO — Firefighters from Poulsbo Fire Department and North Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a “totally engulfed shed fire” Thursday at 8:17 p.m. on Johnson Road and Highway 305.

When units arrived, they found the engulfed structure was actually an old abandoned house, according to Poulsbo Fire spokeswoman Jody Matson. Crews quickly went to work to prevent the house fire from spreading to nearby brush and vegetation. Apparently, residents from across Liberty Bay first noticed the fire and called 911.

The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
