SOUTH KITSAP — Changes to South Kitsap School District’s organizational structure that were spurred by a recent review by the Washington Association of School Administrators was announced April 10 by Superintendent Karst Brandsma.
Changes include a reassignment of Jay Villars, assistant superintendent of Student Success, will move to become deputy superintendent. Villars will continue to oversee all departments associated with the instruction in the South Kitsap School District. This includes supervision of building principals, career and technical education, arts, athletics, early learning, categorical programs, student assessment, staff development, STEM, special services and school and family support.
The name of the Student Success department is changing to Learning and Instructional Support, which better characterizes the work of the department.
Misty Dieffenbach, assistant superintendent of Business Services, announced her resignation earlier this month. The school district has not determined how best to fill the position, according to district spokeswoman Amy Miller.
The role of Tracy Patterson, the district’s assistant superintendent of Business Services, will not change. She will continue to oversee the business department, facilities and operations, food and nutrition services, information technology, and transportation.
