After Aug. 4, it’s Easy Street for most candidates | 2015 Election

With a majority of Poulsbo City Council and North Kitsap School Board positions on the ballot, the 2015 election was shaping up to be a doozer. It’s more likely to be a bit of a snoozer. Of 16 positions up for election this year, only four garnered more than one candidate — and only one of those garnered enough candidates to warrant a primary: North Kitsap School Board, District 4.

POULSBO — With a majority of Poulsbo City Council and North Kitsap School Board positions on the ballot, the 2015 election was shaping up to be a doozer.

It’s more likely to be a bit of a snoozer.

Of 16 positions up for election this year, only four garnered more than one candidate — and only one  of those garnered enough candidates to warrant a primary: North Kitsap School Board, District 4.

The candidates: Loretta Byrnes, a program analyst who served on the board of an American school in Sierra Leone; Scott Henden, an electrical contractor running for a second term; and Glen Robbins, a retired North Kitsap School District principal and administrator.

The two top vote-getters in the Aug. 4 primary will advance to the Nov. 2 general election.

About the primary: Ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 4, or deposited into a drop box by 8 p.m. that day.

In North Kitsap, ballot drop boxes are located at North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, 26642 Miller Bay Road NE, Kingston; and Poulsbo Fire Station, 911 NE Liberty Road, Poulsbo.

On Nov. 2, North Kitsap voters will vote on a majority of Poulsbo City Council and North Kitsap School Board positions. But barring any write-in challenges, the road to four- or six-year terms is called Easy Street for several unopposed candidates.

Village Green Metropolitan Park District commissioners Bobbie Moore (Position 1) and Patrick Pearson (Position 4).

Poulsbo City Council, Position 1: Amanda Cheatham, Kenneth Thomas.

Poulsbo City Council, Position 4: Jeffrey R. McGinty, Gregory A. Mueller.

North Kitsap School Board, District 4: Loretta Byrnes, Scott Henden, Glen Robbins (the two top finishers in the Aug. 4 primary).
