SILVERDALE — Kitsap Humane Society, PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap, and PAWS of Bremerton join forces to help the homeless (and their pets) Jan. 23, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Sheridan Park Community Building, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton.
The event is the Bremerton Housing Authority’s Project Connect, which offers homeless residents legal assistance, dental and medical care, food and clothing, and other services.
The animal welfare groups will provide basic veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter services and other pet-related benefits that may be unaffordable to homeless individuals seeking to care for their animal companions.
The organizations will also distribute pet food donated by the community.
According to Pets of the Homeless, as many as one quarter of homeless people own pets.
