Kingston freshman Ian Lanfear dodges the Port Angeles goalkeeper’s block on one of two goals he contributed to the Buccaneers’ 5-1 win April 15 at Kingston. The win put Kingston (4-0, 6-2) on the top of the Olympic League standings.
“We are young — graduated nine guys last year on one of our best years,” Coach Craig Smith said of his team, which went to the state quarterfinals in 2014. “We still have our goalie, first team all-league senior Alex Worland. And junior Alex Hernandez, leading scorer in our post season last year, will be double-marked all season as our goal-scoring center half. His twin brother Leo had a knee injury last year and didn’t play, but he has had an impact already anchoring our rebuilt defense.”
