Vouchers available for seniors to use at farmers market

Chuckwagon Senior Nutrition now has applications available for the popular Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

The program provides low-income seniors with $40 in voucher checks that can be exchanged for fresh produce at farmers markets throughout Kitsap County.

Interested persons must complete an application and turn it in or mail it to the Chuckwagon office. Once a completed application is received, voucher checks will be mailed to the applicant beginning June 17, 2013. Vouchers will be mailed on a first-come, first-served basis as limited quantities are available.

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

· be age 60 or older (age 55 or older if American Indian/Alaska Native)

· have an annual income at or below $21,257 (or $1,771 monthly) if he or she lives alone or $28,694 ($2,391 monthly) if he or she lives with one other person. For larger households, add $620 per month per person.

· be a Washington State and Kitsap County resident

Beginning May 15th, applications can be picked up at all branches of the Kitsap Regional Library,  Chuckwagon Senior Nutrition Program at 2817 Wheaton Way #208, Bremerton.
